Poker is a game of probability, not certainty (otherwise, there would be no betting). There are many books out there that dissect the mathematics of poker. While you can probably leave your slid rule and calculator at home, to be a successful poker player you should have an appreciation of the numbers.
Every deck of fifty-two cards has 2,598,960 possible five-card poker hands. Below are the odds of being dealt the following hands with the first five cards.
